My small groups LOVED these books (they wanted to read every one of the books in the series!). They felt like they could finally read about famous people and be able to talk about them in an informed manner. Our group needed to research & write about a famous person- these biographies were key in driving their interest and their success. I just wish they had more titles available.. th grade. All kids should know this Team mom Thank you for this wonderful story to share some history of the civil rights movement with my young chiildren. Mine are 6 and 8 years old. It started great conversations and learning.. "Engaging!" according to G. A. Conner. My students really enjoyed reading this version of the life of Rosa Parks. It was simply written but engaging for my third graders.
