Sarah H. said wonderful teaching book. this book can be used for kids, teenagers, or adults. easy to read 1/"wonderful teaching book" according to Sarah H.. this book can be used for kids, teenagers, or adults. easy to read 1/2 page etudes are easy to finish in a short period of time and improve skills. Great pre-Wohlfahrt book.. page etudes are easy to finish in a short period of time and improve skills. Great pre-Wohlfahrt book.. Great for sight reading practice SK As a Suzuki teacher, I recommend this for my students (right after Joanne Martin's I Can Read Music) for excellent sight reading practice. The book is arranged by keys, although I assign them in different order because I don't think C major is the easiest key to start reading in for violin. The first half of the book is just quarter and half notes, the second half gets a little more advanced. After this, they are ready for Wolfahrt or Whistler's Introducing the Positions.. "great for learning to read music" according to phegos. My son is just learning to sight-read.The music here is more interesting than just doing scales, and just challenging enough without being discouraging.I'm not sure if the latter part of the book (in the more obscure keys) will be that useful since I'm not aware of much violin repertoire for those keys. Would have been better to have more snippets in the more common keys.
Includes 60 short etudes (16-32 bars).. The companion book, First Etude Album , reinforces everything taught in the solo, duet, trio and quartet book and is also playable completely in elementary first position. (String Method). String teachers have long turned to the First Album series to fulfill the need for fun, educational first-year solo and ensemble music
