Advice on nutrition and a suggested daily activity schedule are also included. The book contains a wealth of appropriate Qigong exercises, which are clearly explained with the aid of diagrams and photographs. A step-by-step guide to managing Multiple Sclerosis using Qigong, the book explores the concept of Qi (energy) and how this is relevant to the treatment of MS. This book provides a practical guide to using Qigong as a means of improving the physical abilities of people with MS, such as balance and walking, thereby significantly improving the quality of life possible. Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a chronic disease which attacks the central nervous system, can cause numbness in the limbs, loss of vision and even paralysis. Based on scientific research, this practical book will help people with MS to improve their health and quality of life and will be a useful resource for teachers of Tai Chi and Qigong and alternative therapists working with people with MS.. Many can be done either seated or standing, and they are not complicated or painful
Janet Perry said Outstanding Resource to Improve Quality of Life for MS Patients. One of the frustrating things about having MS, especially in the US, is that treatments to improve the quality of life are rarely discussed, and even more rarely researched. But often small, non-pharmaceutical things can make a tremendous difference in our ability to function and live happy lives.Mills realizes this and saw for himself, in a small research study in England, how the practice of Qigong can improve the lives and functioning of MS patients. Reading the list of complaints his patients have sounded like my life. Readin. Very good for improving balance, breathing, and peace of mind Wilhelmina Zeitgeist The title "Qigong For Multiple Sclerosis, Finding Your Feet Again;" by Nigel Mills; caught my eye since I have MS. I'd heard the term Qigong before and knew it was an Asian practice of some sort but had no idea what it was. Out of curiosity I ordered the book.Let me say this is NOT a book that is going to make someone severely stricken with MS jump out of their wheelchair, scooter, or bed and dance the night away. This is NOT a book that is going to heal your body from MS. Still, it is a book that can help many of us; regardless . "Are you kidding me?!" according to Jennifer Sanders. I am an MS patient myself, having been diagnosed almost 5 years ago. After I had my second son 2 years ago my MS went downhill fast. I am now confined to a scooter/wheelchair and I am up for reading anything that could be helpful. This book was NOT helpful, not even a little bit. The author seems to think that if you're doing the exercises from a seated position that you should be able to work into doing them from a standing position with these exercises. I would LOVE for it to be so easy, but it isn't for all us with MS.
