DESCRIPTION:

It was the XK8 - a sleek, purposeful grand tourer in the Jaguar tradition. It was code-named X100 and it was to be Jaguar's latest sports cars, featuring both coupe and convertible coachwork. Graham Robson, one-time Jaguar apprentice and a motoring historian with several other Jaguar books to his credit, tells the story of one of the twentieth century's most beautiful sports car, from its conception to the end of the line for both it and the factory it was built in.. It was to have an all-new V8 engine and it was to replace the XJS. It would also ultimately have the most powerful forced-induction engine of any production Jaguar road card and it had a lot riding on its success

A good book, but not a great one. Mr. Robson clearly knows his subject matter, but I found the book wordy and unclear in places. The photos, however, are worth the price of admission. I realize that the book covers up to 2005, but my version wasn't me. "Development of Jaguar XK8" according to Tommy R.. Enjoyed this book for the historical references to the production of this very stylish car. A very interesting presentation. Hope that the new corporate owners, Ta Ta Motors, do not screw up this georgeous car design. I have a 2005 base coupe with a few options. So far it's been a very relible &, believe it or not, economical to drive - very few repair. A nice coffee table book. David Bilton A most thorough representation of the development of the XK8. I was surprised to note that none of the flaws of the early 4.0 engine were mentioned. Namely, persistent problems with the secondary cam chain tensioners, thermostat and its housing, water pump and its impeller. These all came to light before the book was written, so should have been record
